Parents and Community

Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are extremely important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by bringing a friend to a Young Life fundraising event, by hosting a Young Life gathering, or by telling others in the community about Young Life, just to name a few.

Get Involved!
Though you may not be called to serve as a volunteer leader or a committee member, there are still countless ways you can participate in the Young Life ministry or support a ministry team at a school near you. Here is a list (not exhaustive, of course) of many ways you can get involved:
  • Drive kids to an event
  • Host an event/gathering/club in your home
  • Provide dinner for leaders or a Campaigners group
  • Provide snacks for "Club"
  • Provide prayer support
  • Visit a Young Life or WyldLife Club or event
  • Attend a Young Life fundraiser and bring a friend
  • Visit a Young Life camp
  • Serve as a "Church Liason" to make your church more aware of the local Young Life mission
  • Help with special projects or events
  • Find out about serving as a volunteer leader or committee member

If any of these opportunites look appealing to you, please contact the Sarah Cooper for details.  (503)332.8763 or Contact Us!

Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by becoming a volunteer leader or committee member, by attending a Young Life fund-raising event, by hosting Young Life or by simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.

Young Life starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. Kids' lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God's love with them. Because their Young Life leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.

Young Life is a non-profit organization supported through the generosity of individuals, churches, foundations and businesses that care about kids and support our mission.
In many ways, Young Life is a "grass roots" organization. Most of the funds given to Young Life each year come from individuals and organizations who are committed to making a difference in the lives of kids in their communities.

Young Life also welcomes support for missionwide initiatives (e.g., major camp construction projects or scholarship funds to help kids afford the cost of camp) that reach beyond the local community.

And if you’re a parent, or simply an adult who cares about kids in your community, Young Life welcomes your involvement. There are a variety of ways you can serve and impact the lives of kids in your neighborhood and around the world.

Keeping Kids Safe

An important part of our committment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity.Young Life's Human Resources department has developed missionwide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or leaders as well as when kids are part of Young Life'sponsored activities.

"Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
